Infos on charges, costs and opportunities for to the collection of electrical and electronic waste

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are one of the main target groups of the LIFE WEEE project. The preliminary assessment made by the Chambers of Commerce of Florence and Seville shows that the number of small and medium-sized business owners who are not adequately informed about WEEE legislation and its requirements is quite high.

While distributors already apply (free) WEEE collection when consumers purchase the equivalent type of electrical or electronic equipment (EEE), the one-against-zero collection system for very small WEEE (i.e. the possibility of depositing WEEE of a maximum size 25 cm without obligation to make a purchase) is not yet sufficiently known by SMEs.

WEEE is now a rapidly growing flow in Europe and, if not managed properly, is a danger to human health and cause serious damage to the environment. Not to mention the energy spent producing them and the fact that they could have a new life cycle if properly collected and reused in the circular economy.

To address these problems, the EU has developed specific legislation (First WEEE Directive: Directive 2002/96 / EC; Second Directive Directive 2012/19 / EU) which lays down certain obligations for EEE producers, distributors and sellers, for installers and technical assistance centres and for WEEE transporters .

Italian companies can find it at the bottom of the page in the 'ATTACHMENTS' section in pdf format WEEE MANAGEMENT GUIDE: an indispensable manual dedicated to distributors, sellers, installers and technical assistance centres for the correct management of WEEE, with all the detailed information on the reference regulations, open scope, simplified management, the necessary documents and the answers to frequently asked questions.

Firms with a "greener" vocation can join the Green Network and be included in the LIFE WEEE APP, accessible to all citizens, which geo-locates the WEEE collection points closest to the user and is integrated with the information of the companies/shops that collect domestic WEEE according to one-against-one and/or one-against-zero, including voluntary.

If you wish to give greater visibility to your company, and be featured in the App as a 1:1 and/or 1:0 collection point, fill in the following form and we will contact you: https://forms.gle/Mx9fmJuDTDtmeKAF6   ... it's free!
